"I have been staying at this hotel for the past four years during my trips to Costa Rica and have always enjoyed my stays. Unfortunately, this most recent visit did not reflect the same level of experience.
I booked a one-night stay before flying back home, and while the check-in process was excellent as usual, and the front desk agent was very friendly and polite, the rest of my stay was disappointing.
At checkout, I mentioned to the front desk that the shower in my room was not working...

"I paid for 2 rooms, but the front desk worker kept looking at the other couple that I was with for confirmation. I had to let him know that I booked the rooms and was paying for the rooms. Felt disrespected and will definitely stay in a newer hotel when I am back in Costa Rica. Location is also in a very sketchy part of town."

"Our family absolutely loved our stay at Tamarindo Diria. We are talking about coming back and inviting more family to join us. The hotel is beautiful. Rooms are simple and clean. "The bathroom in the room need renovation since it not functional and extremely old. Also don't expect hot water for your shower between 10AM and 4pm since they shut it down during that time. It also a little bit noisy due that you are on the corner two major roads. So overall if I had to go back to La Fortuna I would choose another hotel."

"Do not spend a single dollar at this hotel. It is a 2 star hotel pretending that it's a 4.5 star. Restaurant service and front desk were the worse I have every dealt with in my travels across the world. Everything is the problem of the guest and they won't any accept any responsibility for their smug attitudes.
