We booked a stay in the morning on the very night. Unfortunately, the weather then considerably deteriorated and a red alert was enforced on the whole region, which prevented us from driving to the hotel. Considering the short delay between the booking and the red alert, we ask the hotel if we could make an arrangement regarding the reimbursement of the night, which was refused. We feel like this was an exceptional situation of “force majeure”, we haven’t use the facilities and it is likely that the booked room would not have been booked by someone else anyway due to the short delay. We feel like we have been robbed from our money and that this hotel takes advantage of tourists. I have been in other hotels where arrangements were possible despite a so-called “48h non-reimbursement policy”.
