"On the hillside across the fjord from the airport and town, it was in the middle of having an extension when we were there (boy, Icelandic builders are hardy) so was a little out of sorts. That said, it is kept in immaculate order, and I’m sure the extension will be great. Currently it’s just 8 rooms, and won’t be so much bigger next year, but will have an internal lift so you don’t have to go outside to get to the lower rooms. There isn’t a restaurant, but the breakfast buffet is a good start...

"I would strongly recommend this hostel to anyone traveling in Akureyri! It is far and away the best hostel I've ever stayed in (and honestly closer to a hotel than most). The common areas are kept meticulously clean, and are decorated beautifully. The kitchen is fully furnished with multiple cooktops, fridges, and sinks. I stayed in a room with two twin beds, and it also had a desk, TV, and small sink (one of my favorite amenities). The bathrooms are stylish and always clean. Truly a fabulous...
