"Pongphen guest house is amazing it sits right along the river so try to get a room with a river view as it's amazing the staff were friendly and it was in a good location to visit places and a 30 second walk and you are in the town where's there's bars and restaurants for stuff to do in the evening "

"Nice accommodation in the very middle of the kanchanaburi ‘Strip’, lovely riverside setting and friendly staff. Taxis available outside pretty much 24/7 with both the bus and train station a short 5 minute taxi away. Only problem was there is next to no noise insulation so you can hear next door very easily and on the weekend when we stayed on friday and saturday there is VERY loud music from 16:00-12:30 which the bass shakes the rooms. Other than that it was a very pleasant stay! "

"So, after having such nice welcomes.everywhere I've ever been in Thailand, here was a bit of a shock. There is no real welcome and interaction comes across at best nonplussed, at worst rude. But if you come prepared for that and you have a room on the raft, they are lovely and are good value for the price. Once you get over the lack of interaction with anyone.... It's great! The view from the river are really lovely to wake up to."
