Soak in therapeutic waters at Roman baths and learn about the history of the spa at the park’s museum.

Berkeley Springs State Park encompasses a main bathhouse, an outdoor swimming pool and the old Roman bathhouse, which also contains the Museum of Berkeley Springs. Discover the history of the springs by browsing the museum exhibits. Let stress melt away as you relax in the warm baths.

Even before the arrival of European settlers, the waters of Berkeley Springs were noted for their curative powers among American Indians. Later one of the most notable visitors to the springs was George Washington, whose trips here helped establish the site as the famed spa destination it is today. Dunk into the same mineral-rich waters that Washington bathed in at these spa facilities.

Enter the Roman baths, where you can stretch out in your own individual tub. Waters here are heated to a maximum of 102 F (39 C), ensuring you remain warm and comfortable. Combine a bath with a massage from a skilled masseur or masseuse in the bathhouse. Let your tightness and tensions be rubbed away using oils and Swedish-style massage techniques.

The spa features a Jacuzzi and a steamy sauna as well as shower facilities. In the warmer summer season, go for a refreshing swim in the park’s outdoor pool, which is open daily and filled with spring water. If you get thirsty, fill up a bottle or jug with fresh mineral water from the park’s natural fountain.

Don’t miss the Museum of Berkeley Springs, on the second level of the Roman Baths building. Exhibits here trace the story of the springs and document their impact on the town and its people.

Enter the Berkley Springs State Park and stock up on mineral water from the fountain for free. Pay fees to soak in the baths or have a spa treatment. Both the main bathhouse and the Roman baths are open Monday through Sunday year-round, with closures on major public holidays, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day and Easter Sunday.
