Moved us to another hotel without consultation
The Book Hotel informed us while we were in the car from the airport that they had rebooked us in a different hotel in a different neighborhood. We were told that the reason was the hotel was experiencing a water problem. All of this is fine, except they had many opportunities to tell us about this problem before we were in the car. We had prepaid for the hotel through Expedia and The Book Hotel made other arrangements with a new hotel without our consent. I called Expedia that night to complain. Expedia emailed me the next day that The Book Hotel denied my request for a refund.

Beautiful hotel in a lovely neighborhood
Beautiful hotel in a lovely neighborhood. This place is in an active neighborhood but a quiet street. A short walk to great restaurants and fun night life. The Wi-Fi was a little weak in my room, but that's minor compared to how kind and helpful the staff were and what a great location this was for enjoying Bogotá.

Exactly what you need in a hotel
I give the Book Hotel 5 stars for value and charm. This hotel is in probably the best part of the cool neighborhood, Chapinero. I had a room that was situated nicely with a view of the quiet street out front and the the mountain. The lobby is charming and clean. The kitchen and dining are cozy and the service is great. The staff are very polite and patient and kind. The manager Miguel is very helpful and nice. You get exactly what you need in a hotel, at a great value. Now that I know about The Book Hotel, this will be my first choice.

hotel pics dont show the real state of hotel
this place cannot be called a hotel, its a house with rooms , really deteriorated the breakfast is really not a buffet, it only is 2 fruits and an egg whichever style, and the eggs are not that good, the rooms have a lot of wear, the carpets are all stained, really not worth the price. also the area where its located is known in bogota for certain kind of people, no comments the only good thing about the hotel is the staff, is really friendly and helpful.

Good value for money
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would stay again if the opportunity arose. The room was small, but functional and even though it lacked an outside window it was in a small courtyard and received a reasonable amount of light from the interior window. The included breakfast was good as was the service at the hotel. Staff were very helpful when we needed assistance with cabs or suggestions on where to dine close by. There is a great restaurant named minimal very close and also a good Italian restaurant close by whose name escapes me. We received a great price on the room and for the price it was good value in a very accessible part of the city.

Excellent location, like staying at someone's home
Had a non smoking room with a queen size bed, Sony HDTV with cable &free WiFi, small refrigerator, and an electronic safe in the closet. Beautiful view from my second floor windows facing the mountains. Warm and friendly staff all the time, had free breakfast (delicious omelets with toast, fruits, coffee, and juice), also a nice menu available. 5 minute walk to the restaurants, banks, bars, park, ect. And don't forget the fresh markets that you can shop at to fill your fridge during your stay. Also felt very safe.

Work and Play
Good location, very close to lots of food and LOURDES church which is a cool plaza that has lots of people walk around and socialize. You are at the foothills and can be up the mountain on a short jog. This was super fun, because the views were great looking out over the city on a run up the hill. It is quiet enough that you can get a good nights rest. There is no office space(at least not in my hotel room) and the beds were a bit stiff, but for the price it was a very cool local place with a lot of charm.

Nice place- but issues.
Overall I think it was a good deal, for a no frills hotel, was clean and comfortable, not many amenities. The safe in the room didn't work and they didn't seem to care to fix it, it wasn't even big enough to put a full size lap top in so kind of useless. The Bathroom floors were very slick and dangerous, fell in the shower numerous times, understand they don't have the same safety considerations as in the US. The are is nice, kind of noisy, but Bogota is not a quiet town. The free breakfast was very nice, fresh fruit, fresh squeezed oj, coffee, toast and eggs, one of the tastiest free breakfasts I have had. The staff was nice but didn't speak much English but it all worked.

Quiet Neighbourhood
The Book is a beautifully restored brick building nestled in a quiet neighbourhood. Our room was clean and bright with a modern bathroom. Shower had plenty of hot water and there was a comfy duvet to snuggle under for the cooler nights. Breakfast was basic but good. The staff were friendly and we felt that although our stay here was a little mode expensive than our regular budget, that we still received good value for the money.

Quiet, great location
Perfect location- right off la septima but still nice and quiet, between downtown touristy spots and the great restaurants and shops further up in chapinero and zona T. Staff is very nice and breakfast was tasty.

Nice hotel for the money.
Overall this is a very good hotel for the money. It is centrally located so you can get to the historic district and also Zona Rosa by taxi or bus. One night a dog was barking and kept me up otherwise it was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was mediocre and I opted for eating at another restaurant after the first two days. The bar was closed (they don't have one, but you could buy a beer from the front desk. They ran out of bottled water for a couple of days. So you get what you pay for. All in all for the money I would return.

Hot water takes 15 min to get warm, WC don't flush I was changed twice from room because of that, rooms have a not nice smell. Design of the shower is terrible. If you turn off the light the outlet get without power, so you can't charge your phone you have to unplug the lamp.

A sweet quiet place for an I dependent traveler.
Book hotel is in a large old building, that has had a modern renovation. Everything is nice and clean and peaceful about the place. The architect for the renovation made it look nice but missed a few things -there are glass doors that slam in the wind,,rough edges to the tiles in the shower, and loads of little steps throughout the space. The staff were very kind. I spoke minimal Spanish and we could communicate perfectly (they let me practice my bad Spanish!). This is not a tourist hotel, they called cabs but did not provide advice on tours, museums, etc. The neighborhood is lovely, there was a tapas bar and restrau t (min mal) that were both excellent. The area was peaceful for short walks, and a five US$ cab to the north or candeleria. Breakfast was eggs, fruit, and juice. Simple.but good.

Great value hotel.
Rooms were clean, staff were pleasant. Beware street noise if you're situated along the front of the hotel. Windows were thin so noise from cars as well as nearby park were a bit loud for us until we were able to move to the back of the hotel. Beds were a little hard for our preference, but was not an issue. Staff were friendly and accommodating to our requests, even helped us make dinner reservations on a couple of occasions. Overall was a cute hotel and fine for the value, though not as close in proximity to shops and sites as we had hoped. Complimentary breakfast was a nice bonus.

Great hotel!
I loved this hotel! It's a small boutique hotel but the rooms are spacious. I shared a room with two friends and our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean! The hotel serves free breakfast, which we took advantage of during our stay. You get a choice of juice, coffee, eggs, fruit, and bread. The coffee was amazing. Another feature that I was impressed with was the shower. The water pressure was great. There are stores and restaurants conveniently located near the hotel. Getting a taxi was no trouble. In addition, the hotel staff was so friendly and accommodating. I will definitely return to the Book Hotel.

Good location, quiet neighborhorhood
The hotel is located in a quiet area of Chapinero close to many good restaurants and bars. We walked around the neighborhood a lot and always felt comfortable and safe. The hotel service is efficient and courteous. The free breakfast (coffee, juice, eggs, toast and fruit) was fresh and tasty. The hotel is modern and our room was cleaned very well, but some minor details should be taken care of. For example, our shower curtain had seen better days. For the quality/price, I would definitely return to The Book Hotel.

Showing its age
While this hotel is in a very lovely building, it's starting to show some wear - stained carpets, broken lamp shades, etc. The biggest inconvenience was that our room key did not work, and the staff was not able to fix it after two days. So every time we wanted into our room, we had to ask the staff to let us in. I was also very disappointed by the location - it's not a great neighborhood, better off staying near Candelaria.
