"This hotel is rustic but charming. Tulum is very expensive to stay and to dine. But the Maya hotel offers some of the most affordable dining options within the property. It’s not very close to the more busy area of Tulum and that’s what I wanted. However, taxis are a rip off, so if you don’t have your own transportation it is a bit far and the roads and side walks of awful. But the hotel is very cool. "

"This hotel is being shut down in September I believe to be remodeled. It’s old. I’d hold off on stay till the remodel. Staff was great. Food was alright but 5 out of 6 dinners took 90 mins to two hours out of the night so be ready. Also, cleaning services left our room door open. The hotel confirmed it was their staff that did it.
