"Loved the stay at Kounso. The room was spacious and had extra bedding that could be used to fit your preference. I was not sure about the shared bath, but each room reserves time slots, so you do not bath with strangers. I loved the cypress bath, it was perfect after a long day. I chose not to use the room heater because of the kerosene smell. Instead, the kotatsu table kept me plenty warm for this time of year. "Worst capsule hotel, or even hostel, that I've ever stayed in. And I've been backpacking for almost 2 years. It was hilariously bad. Of note: the futon inside the capsule is so thin it's like sleeping on a towel. Secondly, they're are"lock out" periods, no showers after 9am, can't be inside the property between 10-4pm, which means one night stay is your best bet. Overall, the place is rubbish, but for $23/night it is priced right for Japan. Just don't have high hopes. It's hilariously bad."

"This is a lovely hotel and was one of the nicest we have stayed in while in japan. The rooms are large, modern and very clean. I found the staff at reception and also in the bar to be extremely helpful and they went out of their way to help us offering help without even needing to be asked.
