FIFA World Football Museum

For fans of the world’s number one sport, this spot is a highlight. Follow a timeline since the first sports event in 1930.

Visit Zurich’s FIFA World Football Museum for a cornucopia of facts and figures about the annual FIFA World Cup. Whether you call the game football or soccer, discover interesting anecdotes that have accumulated since the first match, which was held in Uruguay in 1930. Included are games such as the tempestuous 1966 match between Argentina and England when red and yellow cards were initiated.

The museum’s collection has over 1,000 artifacts including game paraphernalia, photo archives, player conduct notes from referees and much more in this continually expanding exhibition.

Since opening in 2016, the four-story museum is a must-see for soccer fans visiting Zurich. The coveted FIFA World Cup is on display here. Use the mobile app guide to explore the many displays or simply navigate through the vast collection using a museum map.

The Lab section is often popular with families as a learning and activity environment with fun exhibits. Try making your own soccer ball. After you create one from unusual materials, try a keepie-uppie no-hands juggling challenge with other visitors.

See if you have what it takes to be a world-class soccer player by demonstrating your coordination skills.

The Library is a comprehensive resource on everything related to soccer, with over 7,500 books and other printed materials, as well as having the most complete collection of official FIFA publications.

If you feel thirsty, visit the sports bar beside the museum entrance. Go to the museum’s second floor for the restaurant, café-bar, self-service bistro and shop where soccer paraphernalia and souvenirs are available to purchase.

Before you leave the museum, visit the Memory Jar exhibit with items from soccer fans from around the world. Perhaps you have something you’d like to show the world by having it included in the museum.

Exhibits, eating facilities and washrooms are fully accessible in the museum. Children under age 6 and visitors with the Museumspass- Musees or Swiss Travel Pass have free admission. Get a discount with the ZürichCARD.

Find FIFA World Football Museum in the city center on Seestrasse. It’s closed on Mondays.
