Land’s End is a spectacular rock formation comprised of an arch with a disappearing floor at the tip of the Baja California Peninsula. Also known as El Arco (The Arch), the site is a popular spot for glass-bottom boat tours from the nearby marina. Notice how the sandy floor at the foot of the arch reappears at low tide.
Embark on a boat tour to pass through the center of this grand arch on the eastern side of Lover’s Beach. Be alert to try to spot sea lions. The rock formation separates the tumultuous waves and currents of the Pacific Ocean from the calmer water of the Gulf of California. Snap photos of the other rocks rising from the water beside the arch.
Arrive for sunrise or sunset for the best views of the arch, which looks spectacular drenched in golden light. Enjoy the vista to the west of Mt. Solmar, where you can go hiking. Stay overnight at one of the resorts and spas on the southern coastline.
Sunbathe on one of the two beaches lining the arch. Divorce Beach lives up to its name with strong rip currents and jagged rocks. Swimming is prohibited. Walk north to Lover’s Beach and go snorkeling in the calm sea. On these relaxing strands, you’ll find no vendors, restaurants or bathroom facilities. Enjoy the absolute tranquility, away from the stress of the city center. The natural rock formation and its adjacent beaches are accessible at all times for free.
Land’s End marks the meeting point between the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California. It is in the southeastern corner of Cabo San Lucas, just a 25-minute walk from the marina. Make sure to visit some of the other nearby sights, such as Cannery Beach, the Pabellón Cultural de la República and Medano Beach.
