Besides its many attractions, Jersey City’s sprawling waterfront park offers beautiful views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the Manhattan skyline.

Visit Liberty State Park, where the past meets the future. Enjoy fantastic views and discover a fascinating history at this 1,212-acre (490.5-hectare) waterfront park in Jersey City. The park’s well-maintained network of trails is perfect for bikers, joggers and walkers alike.

Stroll along Liberty Walkway and take in unparalleled views of some of New York City’s top sights. Take in panoramic views of the Lower Manhattan skyline. See the iconic Statue of Liberty beckoning from the New York Bay. Next to it is Ellis Island, which served as a gateway for millions of immigrants in the 19th and 20th centuries. Examine these two landmarks more closely by taking a ferry from the Liberty Landing Marina.

Walk by the historic Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal (CRRNJ). Although it remains closed due to significant damage from Hurricane Sandy, examine its striking red brick exterior. Built in 1889, the terminal was an important point of egress, particularly after Ellis Island opened. An estimated 8 million immigrants used the Central Railroad to travel to their new homes.

Visit Empty Sky Memorial to honor the hundreds of lives lost in the September 11 World Trade Center attacks. Read the names of the victims engraved on the memorial and look out across the bay to where the towers once dominated the New York City skyline.

At Liberty Science Center, located within the park, learning has never been so fun. Dive into its interactive exhibits, feel your way through its famous Touch Tunnel or catch an IMAX feature.

Reach Liberty State Park by car or take the PATH train to the Hoboken Train Terminal and then the Bergen-Hudson Lightrail to the Liberty State Park Station. For a more scenic trip, take the ferry to the Liberty Landing Marina. Visit Liberty State Park every day of the year during daylight hours.
