Great and not too pricey spot to stay for a few days in NYC. Comfortable, safe, friendly staff, decent continental breakfast, good coffee! Loved being close to the L subway line, West Village, Chelsea Market & the HighLine. Mattress was a little too hard -- could use an upgrade, but bathroom was lovely. Would stay here again!

The Maritime is one of the architectural marvels of Chelsea. I had always wondered what it looked like inside. Apparently it was originally built as housing for merchant seaman. The nautical theme dominates the design inside, including huge over-sized port windows and dark wood paneling everywhere. It is beautifully refurbished with very modern bathrooms and comfortable beds and furniture. The staff was very helpful (except for one check-out clerk, who may have been overwhelmed.) The neighborhood late at night is crowded with people leaving dance clubs who are intoxicated and hungry.

One of our rooms was overheated with no known way to reduce the heat. Had I known, I would have called the front desk. Great breakfast, enjoyed the creature comforts in the hotel.

Loved the location, the staff, the amenities, the only comment I would have is the hotel has obviously done a great job at upgrading and keeping the hotel relevant...except the beds are still old...would be nice to have a comfy mattress...otherwise awesome!

I LOVED the decor and vibe. The staff was super friendly and helpful. My issues were-- 1. there's no usb plugins that are pretty standard in hotels these days. There was one in our room, but it didn't seem to work so my phone died. 2. they say there's "room service" from the restaurant underneath the hotel. It is NOT room service-- it is to go. We were quite dissapointed. ANd it cost an insane amount for being to go food. I mean, $170 for 2 people (we ate a lot, but still) for to go food in tons of plastic with plastic forks. And, it should not be advertised as room service because it's not. I would have gotten food elsewhere if I had known. Also, the continental breakfast was kind of like motel ones I have had. so. to summarize---hotel lovely, food not good.
