Orlando City Hall is a famous place in Downtown Orlando, Florida. It houses the city’s government and two art galleries, where you can see great exhibitions for free. Visit the beautiful postmodern-style edifice with its big dome and interesting façade decorated with reliefs depicting natural elements of the local region.

Every day, City Hall receives hundreds of local visitors and tourists. The nine-story building has an eye-catching copper dome and granite walls. Take photos of the works of art decorating the exterior of the building on the upper floors. These relief panels created by the artist Ellie Stein depict typical nature from Central Florida. Look for orange trees, fish and two types of indigenous birds: pelicans and roseate spoonbills.

Inside Orlando City Hall are two public art galleries. Find the Terrace Gallery on the first floor and the Mayor’s Gallery on the second and third floors. Entry to both galleries is free. They house works of art from national and international artists. Also on the first floor, look for two murals by the narrative painter Kathryn Freeman. One of them called Orlando Market features the popular farmers market on Church Street. The other mural, located on the south side of the hall, depicts the lakes in the downtown area.

While you are visiting City Hall make sure you explore City Hall Plaza in front of the building. Take photos of the fountain depicting a big Florida storm and the two sculptures, titled Legacy and Tower of Light. Stroll around the area to see native plants, including cypress and sabal palm.

Reach the Orlando City Hall building easily by car or public transportation. It’s located in the lively area of Downtown Orlando and is part of a building complex called CNL Center City Commons. Find it on the corner of two well-known streets, South Orange Avenue and South Street.
