"We arrived early and they had secured storage for our bags (for what I thought was an acceptable small fee), check in was good and the staff were helpful. Only niggle for us was that our A/C unit “blew up” at 23.30 and set off the fire alarm sensor in our room…. Staff were good, moved us to another room straight away whilst they set about dismantling everything to try and shut it all down/off."

"I always stay at The Standard when in London. Every staff member I’ve met has been lovely and helpful. Friends often meet me there for drinks because the bars and restaurants have some of the best atmosphere in London. Rooms are always clean and well appointed. It’s very conveniently located as Kings X itself is full of amazing shops and restaurants but it’s also the best connected stations in London for public transport. If you’re lucky your room will come with a gorgeous view of St Pancras hotel. And this may seem random but I also love that they have washcloths. For some reason in recent years I’ve found less and less hotels have them. When I stay somewhere I don’t expect to have to bring my own bathing linens. Despite my love of this hotel I do have some small gripes. The room configurations are all so different, which is fun but some aren’t the best for opening large luggage for longer stays. The bins are tiny. I often shop or bring back takeaway food to the hotel and there only these tiny bins with tiny holes to throw larger packaging away. If you stay on any floor close to the top, and are sensitive to sound, bring ear plugs because you’ll hear music from the bars until the wee hours. Similarly, if your room happens to be close to a supply closet expect to hear loud banging from the door more often than you’d anticipate. Despite these issues, the benefits definitely outweigh the negatives. The Standard is the standard for a quality London stay. "

"Pretty good and the location alone makes it worthwhile, with the cost per night also amazing! Staff were lovely at 11pm at night. I got an upfront warning that there will be some building work 'early' at 8:30am, and they did start a little later! Fully air conditioned room, with a nice comfortable double bed. I will say that if you are not solo/couple don't bother with the double room as it is relatively tiny, get a family room if available. Overall, for the money as well, will absolutely stay here instead of a Travelodge or a Premier Inn, if the price was the same or less. If it was more expensive, I would probably consider if it was the summer as the room had air conditioning! "
