"So much was excellent. The value for money is spot on and even though the restaurant is pricey for Portugal, it's still very good value. Breakfast was far more than we'd expected, especially after some poor offerings elsewhere. "This is a lovely small hotel to stay in the walled village. You can park right in front which is a huge plus. We booked a triple room and it was spacious. I think the others are on the small side. Everything was spotless! Comfy bed with soft sheets. Our room was cold and it turned out our heat didn't work, but there were balnkets in the closet and that did the trick. Had a bowl of the traditional tomato soup for dinner and it was hearty and delicious!"

"What an exceptional spot! Marvao is incredible. The pousada is in a perfect location, and overlooking the plains below, it has a fabulous view. Our room, although small, was quite commodious and had historic traditional Portuguese furniture. Our dinner and breakfast were most enjoyable, although the dinner was not “gourmet”. Would we stay there again? Absolutely."

"Fantastic hotel right in the centre of Portalegre. The staff were very helpful, the room was great and the breakfast was excellent. The neighbourhood is quaint with lovely old cobbled streets with good shops, interesting buildings and good restaurants. Easy access to the local national park. "

"The hotel is conveniently located just a few minutes walk from the Castelo de Vide. The building is dated but everything is very clean and tidy. The room we stayed in was very basic. Few electrical outlets, no cupboards or drawers for our clothes and poor lighting, but the heating worked and the shower was wonderful. The breakfast served was outstanding. This hotel is good value for the money."

"The hotel is in an excellent location with good views over the rural landscape. The decorations are getting a little tired but it is still OK. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The one surprise that we had was that the only food on offer in the restaurant was local peasant food with no written menu available. The food was good but basic and we had no idea what it was going to cost us. The walls between the rooms are very thin as we could hear exactly what was going on in the neighbouring...

"The hotel it's reasonable priced. However on the bedroom we stayed I think was 7 the sink had a big crack. The shower door was unhinged and seem quite dangerous. The reason I would give a 3* was due a fridge as been diabetic was a bonus and also customer service otherwise would be a 2*. Pool and generic communal areas were dirty. Air con pipe drips water to the glass in front which looks quite bad. Yes it's April but the weather was 30degrees plus so should be clean. Breakfast no hot food even...

"Stayed here for one night on a long day trip and it was very cute and typically portuguese. I would stay here again especially for what you get for the price it is a steal. A very cute town with many cute towns around it, really good place to rest on a road trip. I would stay again"
