This was an absolute NIGHTMARE. Expedia’s listing was blatantly misleading—payment was supposed to be “upon arrival,” but instead, we were hounded for it in advance via sketchy URLs. Then came the demand to screenshot proof of payment and upload it through yet another broken link. Less than 24 hours before check-in, we were hit with a surprise security deposit—again through a shady link. Communication beforehand? Nonexistent.
The lockbox instructions were a cruel joke, like a scavenger hunt from hell. Inside, the unit was a disaster: a sparking microwave (serious fire hazard), dripping bath tap, and a bedroom window stuck open in the freezing Toronto spring. Reporting these? Useless. After five days of follow-ups, the response was, “We’ll report it.” We stayed 16 days in that mess.
The bathroom sink was an open drain nightmare; the kitchen sink, clogged and caked in limescale. An Amazon delivery vanished into their black hole of a “concierge,” and we were scolded for even ordering it. Endless calls went nowhere.
The worst? My partner, fresh from the shower, was walked in on by three strangers—one with keys—for a “viewing.” No notice. Total invasion of privacy.
Checkout was the final insult. We were promised a late checkout room (for a fee), then told to leave in five minutes or face penalties—no room, no luggage storage. They basically kicked us out. STAY FAR AWAY.
